Twenty UF buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the official list of sites in the United States worthy of preservation.  In 1989, the University of Florida Campus Historic District was added to the Register.  The District included works already on the Register as well as other buildings contributing to the historic character of the district.   Many historic UF buildings are in the Collegiate Gothic style.
