The format of the interview is a series of questions from the panel and answers from President O'Connell. Some of the topics included the objections Governor Claude Kirk had to the method by which O'Connell was selected, why O'Connell accepted the presidency and moved from the profession of law, what type of support the university needed, enrollment, where funding for the university was derived, student protests at the university, the division of the school year (quarter system), and the search for a new chancellor.
