Marston, president of the University of Florida, announces his impending resignation on November 30, 1982.  The resignation will be effective on September 4, 1984.  This will allow a transition time so that there will be no need for an interim president.  Dr. Marston comments on why he is leaving and his future plans.

Thomas E. Martin of the Building and Construction department is studying several systems under a grant from the Department of Education.  The ET (Evapo Transporation) System is a septic tank system, which uses a greenhouse as a drain field.  Water is routed to a greenhouse through charcoal.

Although Florida experienced a slow down in the growth of its elderly population, this will change by the year 2020.  Stan Smith, the head of the Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR),  states that the greatest impact will be on health care for the elderly as well as on education and the demands for goods and services.
