Technical Services Strategic Initiatives for 2007/2008

Division

1. Design and implement new Web pages for the division and departments.
2. Explore use of Blogs and Wikis for communication across departments and procedure documentation.
3. Streamline ARL statistics reporting by developing and implementing Web page forms.
4. Review replacement copy policy and procedures; update and streamline workflow with Collection Management and Access Services and throughout Technical Services departments.
5. Support and participate in all planning efforts for regional joint storage facility.
6. Participate in Library 2.0 communication initiatives.

Acquisitions & Licensing

1. Finalize Electronic Resources Management System selection and make plans for implementing the system within 2008/2009.
2. Finalize the domestic approval plan review and implement Task Force recommendations after approval from the Directors.
3. Investigate options for ordering and purchasing resources identified through the ILL Purchase on Demand Program.

Cataloging & Metadata

1. Investigate adding vernacular scripts for Slavic and Judaica bibliographic records.
2. Complete retrospective project of updating OCLC with UF serials holdings.
3. Document the DLC and C&M workflow for adding UFDC bibliographic records to Endeca.
4. Identify Dewey reclassification projects in the branch libraries and develop a work plan.

Preservation

1. Revitalize the microfilm sales program and update procedures.
2. Implement retrospective dissertation scanning project and document procedures.
3. Establish brittle book procedures and implement program for UF collections.
