- Papers, 1879. An article written by David L. Levy and signed D.L. Levy. It is a letter to the editor of an unknown magazine, meaning there is no information as to the magazine or newspaper in which it was published. The article is dated January 16, 1879. It is a call to all Floridians for a statewide railroad system to run from Pensacola to Fernandina to Key West with branches to Ocala and Tampa. Mr. Levy officially changed his name from David Levy to David L. Yulee in 1846 but penned his name as D.L. Yulee when writing political pieces. - Secretary of the Territory and Secretary of State incoming correspondence, 1831-1917. The series contains the incoming correspondence of the Secretary of State and the Secretary of the Territory. Correspondence in this series touches on numerous aspects of the responsibilities of the Secretary of State. Much of the correspondence is routine in nature, reflecting the secretary's statutory functions. The correspondence focuses on commissions, oaths and bonds of local officials, local election returns, the issuance of election certificates, recommendations for the appointment of officials, and publications and reports. Included in this series is the official correspondence of Westcott.

- Letter, 1846. One letter, dated November 9, 1846, to John Y. Mason, from J.D. Westcott, Jr. Mason was then serving as Secretary of the Navy. The letter is in regard to a request of an appointment for Robert J. Floyd of Florida to a pursurship in the Navy and several other concerns regarding Florida's representation in various departments of the military. On the back of the letter Mason has penned his response to the requests, which were favorable.

- Diary and reminiscences, 1861-1867. Diaries, 1861-1862 and 1865-1867, of Mallory. The second volume was written while Mallory was in a federal prison at Ft. Lafayette in New York harbor and includes his recollections of the collapes of the Confederate government during April 1865 and his autobiography. There are also copies of letters relating to Mallory's application for parole and some general business and financial information; and advice to his son, Stephen R. Mallory, Jr., on government, religion, etc., and commenting on Jefferson Davis. 2 v.
- Papers, 1835-1873. Letters, chiefly 1835-1872, mainly from Mallory to his wife and children while he was a member of the U.S. Senate, in Richmond as secretary of the Confederate Navy, as a prisoner of the federal government, 1865, and in Pensacola, Fla., during Reconstruction. Topics include social and political events in Washington, D.C., 1858; wartime conditions in Richmond, Va.; conditions during Mallory's imprisonment, 1865; and his efforts to obtain a presidential pardon and re-establish himself in Pensacola, and the condition of the family home there; and letters, 1868-1871, to his son, Atilla, at college, giving him advice on social and study habits. 95 items. 2 microfilm reels.

Letters to his wife, Angela in Pensacola, Fla. dated 1863-1865 giving a personal account of battles, troop movements and everyday life during the Civil War. In particular there is a long detailed letter written during the Seven day's Battles from the battlefield. - Papers, 1897-1935 1919-1935. Correspondence, campaign literature, speeches. Campaign literature for his two senatorial races and hand-written speeches with notes while he was Senator. Correspondence on his appointment as 5th Circuit Judge include letters from Frank Clark, W.G. McAdoo, George P. Rainey, and William Sears in the early stages when they had forwarded his name for the position over the objections of many Democratic Party leaders who preferred Judge Carter of Pensacola, even though he was elderly and expected to retire soon. One letter from President Woodrow Wilson congratulating Bryan makes it clear that Wilson would have preferred Bryan to take other positions he had been offered. Newspaper clippings include coverage of his confirmation proceedings for Supreme Court of the United States. Had Bryan not died during these proceedings he would have been the first Floridian to serve on the High Court. 6 folders (442 items).

- Attorney General. Correspondence, 1878-1883, 1898-1913. The series includes letterpress books of the outgoing correspondence of Park Trammell (1909-1913). The correspondence reflects the duties of the Attorney General as chief counsel for the state and contains legal advice on all matters of governmental operations. The correspondence also contains discussions of cases in which the state was involved in litigation plus directives to the state attorneys and to the Railroad Commission.

The Civil Rights papers primarily focus on racism in Central Florida, the activities of the Ku Klux Klan in Orange County, and the political career of Pepper. Most of the collection consists of photocopies of FBI files from the 1940s through the late 1960s on Pepper.
