- Correspondence, 1945-1949. The series contains the official correspondence of Governor Caldwell. The records reflect the official, constitutional, and political duties of the Office of the Governor. The series consists mainly of incoming and outgoing correspondence filed by general subject area, agency or organizational name, or county name. Correspondence files for 1947 are incomplete: all files after V are missing.
- Papers, 1933-1975. Personal correspondence, speeches, business, and financial records from 1955 to 1973. These records document Caldwell's activities after his term as Florida Governor (1945-1949). There are also newspaper clippings from 1933 to 1962 on various subjects of interest to Caldwell, including events during his term as Governor. The clippings are pasted in old volumes of the Congressional Record.

There are also some gaps in the records from 1859 to 1913; the years 1867-1876, 1882-1884, and 1887-1894 are missing. The opinions are in the form of correspondence addressed to the government official who requested the opinion or legal advice in writing on a matter related to their official duties. Volume 3 contains the opinions of Ellis (1904-1908), and Volume 4 contains the opinions of Ellis (1908).

- Papers, 1929-1981. This collection consists mainly of papers pertaining to Ervin's years as Attorney General and his campaigns for that office as well as his correspondence, campaign materials and court opinions of his years as Supreme Court Justice. Included are also papers reflecting his years of service to the Woodmen of the World. There are extensive speech files containing his own speeches, speeches and articles by others, his collection of political anecdotes and assorted memorabilia. There is also correspondence with the State Road Department, letters of recommendation and congratulation, papers from the American Judicature Society, court hearing files, expense accounts, Florida Bar papers, and materials from the Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission and the National Association of Attorneys General.

- Governor Hart's official incoming correspondence, 1873-1874. The State Archives also holds a collection of Territorial and State Governors letterbooks, which contain the official outgoing correspondence of Florida's governors from 1836-1909.
- Superintendent of Registration Ossian B. Hart correspondence, 1867. The records consist of letters received by Hart while establishing Boards of Registration to register qualified voters throughout Florida. Also included are instructions from of county supervisors of elections.

The series contains the incoming correspondence of the Secretary of State and the Secretary of the Territory from 1831 to 1917. Correspondence in this series touches on numerous aspects of the responsibilities of the Secretary of State. Included in this series is the official correspondence of Augustus Maxwell.

The series contains the outgoing correspondence of the Secretary of State and the Secretary of the Territory from 1830-1865 and 1889-1905. A major gap exists in the series from 1866-1888. Housed in letterbooks, the correspondence documents the various duties of the Secretary of State and provides an understanding of the internal working of the state and of the historical events of the time. 22 v.

- Oral history program files (Governor Graham). The collection contains records relating to the four Oral History Programs between 1980 and 1984. Included are program activity files, transcripts of the dinner program and interviews, and in some cases audiotape recordings of the dinner program and interviews. Correspondence in this series touches on numerous aspects of the responsibilities of the Secretary of State. Much of the correspondence is routine in nature, reflecting the secretary's statutory functions. The correspondence focuses on commissions, oaths and bonds of local officials, local election returns, the issuance of election certificates, recommendations for the appointment of officials, and publications and reports. - Letter, 1846. One letter, dated November 9, 1846, to John Y. Mason, from J.D. Westcott, Jr. Mason was then serving as Secretary of the Navy. The letter is in regard to a request of an appointment for Robert J. Floyd of Florida to a pursurship in the Navy and several other concerns regarding Florida's representation in various departments of the military. On the back of the letter Mason has penned his response to the requests, which were favorable.
