Biographical/Historical Note
Edward O. Painter was born in N.Y. in 1860. He moved to Florida at the age of 17 and began his career as a printer. He settled down in DeLand and became the editor and then the owner of the Florida Agriculturalist. In order to properly print the serial, Painter founded the E.O. Painter Printer Company, which is still in operation today, making it the longest running printing operation in Florida.
