The Miscellaneous Manuscript Collection currently consists of more than 2000 small manuscript collections, including family correspondence, land records, and diaries. Holdings continually grow through new acquistions and the collection is best searched through a new web database. Please read the tips on searching before using the search engine.
This "collection" is actually a compilation of generally unrelated files filling 90 Hollinger boxes. The collection is extremely diverse, encompassing mainly American, Spanish, English, French, and Cuban documents.
Subjects covered by these manuscripts include: politics; diplomatic relations; wars (Seminole Wars, American Civil War, Spanish American War); trade and business; geography and navigation; land grants; religion; entertainment; railroads; hotels; Native Americans; immigration; indentured servitude; and slavery.
All listings also identify items as originals or copies, note transcriptions, and inform users if translations are available (and, if not, what language the document is written in).
