Scope and Content
Charles W. Holton was mayor of Essex Falls, NJ from 1930-1951. In 1938 he and his family took a trip from New Jersey to the Florida Keys, February 17 - March 26, 1938. This album entitled "Southward to the Florida Keys" contains a map of their route, a two page itinerary, an eleven page description of their trip, and seventy-three pages of photos of the journey. Many of the photographs illustrate ships and ship-life in late 1930s Florida, making this a great resource for studying Depression-era South Florida.
