Biographical/Historical Note
Ion L. Farris was born in Savannah, Georgia in 1878. His family moved to Marion County while he was still a boy. He decided to become a lawyer, studying in the offices of Herbert Anderson and W.K. Zewadski. After passing the bar he became a noted figure in public life. He was elected to the Florida Senate as a Democrat, becoming a very prominent party member. In 1916 he ran for governor but lost in the primary.

This scrapbook contains news clippings from Farris' campaign as a gubernatorial candidate in 1916.
