Map of Tacoma

Accompanying Caption Reads:
Front:  Where my grandfather's cabin stood when he settled in 1876 and named this section TACOMA after Chief Micanopy's daughter.  It was in this cabin where he wrote the letters published in N.Y. paper in 1876-77. Now here in museum.  JAMES CALVERT SMITH, 1944.
[A map of Tacoma made around 1931 by B.F. Mathews, Western Union, N.Y.C., and now part of the P.K. Yonge Library's Miscellaneous Manuscripts Collection.  Donated by J.C. Smith.]
