Biographical/Historical Note
The Florida Historical Society was established in 1902, incorporated in 1905. It was the successor to the Historical Society of Florida. In 1940 it absorbed the Florida State Historical Society founded in 1921. Julien Chandler Yonge was the editor of the Florida Historical Quarterly from 1925 to 1955.
Scope and Content
The collection consists mainly of the correspondence of Julian Chandler Yonge (1879-1962), relating to the business of the society and its journal, the Florida Historical Quarterly, which he edited from 1925 to 1955. Additionally, the collections contains printed programs of annual meetings and regional conferences.
