Scope and Content
One document was written and signed in La Habana on September 14, 1639, by Lope de Tapia, "Juez Official por su Magestad... de esta isla de Cuba." It is written in favor of Don Diego Luis Riano y Menesses, stating that he served in Cuba between 1636-1639, including service as captain of the Castillo del Morro. A second document, dated January 30, 1810, is an official copy of a real cedula expressing the king-regent's displeasure toward interracial marriages. A typewritten transcription of the document is included. A third document, dated 1844, describes transactions of money and land between various individuals and the San Francisco convent in Havana. A fourth document, from the 1950s, is a Cuban war bond. And the fifth item is a trading card album entitled Album de la Revolucion Cubana, 1952-1959 (Album of the Cuban Revolution, 1952-1959).
