Scope and Content
An official copy of a Real Cedula of King Charles IV of Spain expressing his displeasure toward interracial marriages among Cuban colonists in Puerto Príncipe and "negros, mulatos, chinos...." The original Real Cedula was dated October 19, 1805. This official copy from the secret archives was created January 30, 1810. The Real Cedula begins: "El Rey.- Regente y Oydores... Audiencia de Cuba que reside en la Villa de Puerto Príncipe." A transcription of the document is included.
