Folder 2: Manuscript memo on Cosmetic Rhinoplasty (3 p.) Writer uncertain, but may be Carl's wife Connie. Cf. letter to Carmen Hurff (Box 1, folder #1).

Folder 3: Manuscript of comments and questions about details of the novel, including a memo on the procedure for Suction Lipectomy of the Abdomen. Writer, or writers uncertain, but may be author's wife, editor, or a physician. Annotations are added by Hiaasen.

Folder 4: Manuscript and computer printed notes on the novel.

Folder 5: Early Draft. Computer printed manuscript of chapters 13 - 34 and Epilogue with autograph notes and corrections. Chapters are dated from "7-17" [1987 or 88] to "1-5" [1988 or 89]

Native Tongue 1989-1991:

Folder 1: Material Relating to the Writing. Contents include notes on the novel, lists of things to do, an outline of chapters, drafts of chapters 35 and 36, and several newspaper clippings and magazine articles. Subjects of articles and clippings include development on Key Largo, endangered species, gun control, and testing of mosquito repellants. The drafts and outline of chapters are computer printed with autograph notations. Notes are both handwritten and computer printed. Early Draft of Native Tongue. Computer printed manuscript of Native Tongue, Chapters 1 - 36 and Epilogue, with autograph notes and corrections. Chapters are dated from "6-10" [1989?] through "9-16"[1990?]. Some chapters have more than one draft. 2 folders:
