Special Collections, General Subject Manuscripts Collection

Jack and Anne Rudloe Papers
MS Group 109

Part V: Topical Files. 1966-1995. 13 boxes.

The major component of the Topical files is the conservation files (8 boxes). Other major subjects include the turtle files (2 cubic foot boxes) and the Coral Management Plan (two boxes). One box of miscellaneous topics features Anne Rudloe's research and writings on the electric ray. The heart of the conservation files is six boxes relating, with few exceptions, to Rudloe's environmental activism in Wakulla County and adjacent areas. Major topics include efforts to prevent dredging in Dickerson Bay, to stop development of a marina on the bay, and efforts to prevent development of Fiddler's Point. One box relates to the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. Two boxes of conservation files represent Rudloe's association with various environmental groups and agencies as well as including some general environmental documentation.

The turtle files include a variety of turtle information, illustrating the efforts of Rudloe and others in turtle conservation, as well as general turtle biology. Some of the documents are original, while others are secondary sources that served to inform Rudloe's turtles writings. The coral management plan derives from a consultanship to survey markets for imported coral.  There is also a small group of papers based on a report on aquaculture prepared by the Rudloes.
