Feels that he doesn't want to see her, as he know she has a little money
available. Has inquired about newspaper salaries. Apparently upon returning
home that evening MK found another letter from Charles which enraged her.
She makes two replies that night, before and after midnight. Accuses him
of cynicism and nearly terminates the relationship.

want to go. "Aren't you ever going to have sense enough to boss me around?"
She resumes the letter at 2 am Tuesday, after a five hour hiatus, during
which she has gone on an impromptu date with a man from Wisconsin.
