Record Group III, Series 48

Czarnikow-Rionda Company. Research Dept.
Research and reference files, 1954-1962 (bulk 1955-1957)
    2.1 linear ft. (5 boxes)

The Research Department in the Czarnikow-Rionda Company kept data files on the annual sugar production and consumption of specific nations. Many of the country files were limited to reference information excerpted from trade journals and were discarded. Retained in this series are the country files that had information not readily available in published sources.  These files contain cables, memoranda, and letters relative to the markets in those countries as well as information on legislation affecting the sugar trade.  The series also contains the data from a world sugar survey conducted by the department in the 1950s and notes and manuscripts to several articles written by department staff.
All correspondence falls in the years 1955-1957.  Additional reference information was added to some of the country files in the early 1960s.   As might be expected the largest country file is that for Cuba.  Also of interest are the folders on Japan, the French Union, Chile, and Peru.
