The Compañía
Maritima Guayabal was organized on May 16, 1955 for the purpose of constructing,
dredging and exploiting ports, terminals, warehouses, and drydocks at the
Port of Guayabal. A major renovation of the port was undertaken in
1955 and completed by 1960.
The series consists
primarily of documents related to the renovation of the port, including
plans and specifications for the renovated facilities, and the operation
of the terminal. Also included in the series are documents related
to the management of the port by the Francisco Sugar Company in the years
1903-1932.
