The signing of the first formal agreement between a U.S. institution (the University of Florida) and a Spanish one (Instituto de Cooperacion Ubero Americana in Madrid).  Dr. Robert Q. Marston (President of UF) and Jose Mario Alvarez Romero (Director of Cultural Cooperation at the Instituto) signed the agreement.
