Subseries P7a contains President Tigert's incoming and outgoing correspondence with professional organizations, state agencies, university committees, academic units, and other corporate bodies. Included in the subseries is Tigert's correspondence with the Association of Land-Grant Colleges and Universities' Executive Committee and the Joint Committee on Accrediting. The subseries also contains correspondence with the Florida Board of Control, each of the colleges and administrative divisions in the University of Florida, social and professional fraternities, the Library, and the Florida General Extension Division. There is considerable correspondence related to war training and veteran rehabilitation for the period during and after World War II primarily under the heading "Military, Division of".
Subject analysis of the correspondence is provided under each heading in the finding-aid. An exception is the correspondence with the Board of Control, much of which had been separated from the main body of correspondence when the records were transferred to the Archives.
