Contains correspondence and other administrative records of Cora Miltimore who was appointed library director in 1918. Miltimore was the first professional librarian to hold the position; previous directors were selected from the faculty. Also includes correspondence of Acting Director Nelle Barmore. The files are very incomplete. Of note, are the records related to a survey of Florida's libraries conducted by the American Library Association, budget information for the mid-1930s, and records and minutes of the Library Committee. Arranged alphabetically by subject.

This subseries contains the administrative records of Stanley L. West, Director of Libraries from 1947 to 1967. In addition to the files related to the Libraries' management, there are files on West's participation in professional organizations such as the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries, the Association of Research Libraries, and the Southeastern Library Association. There are files related to the expansion of Library East (now Smathers Library) and the construction of Library West and the Health Science Library. West's involvement on University committees is well documented. Also of note are the files related to Latin American acquisitions, the Farmington Plan, and the first eleven Seminars on the Acquisition of Latin American Materials. The latter includes two files on the first seminar held in 1956 at Chinsegut Hill in Brooksville, Florida. One of the files was pulled from records of the Catalog Department and added to this subseries. Arranged alphabetically by subject.

Addendum: Boxes 27-29 were added to the subseries in 2008. These contain miscellaneous administrative correspondence, West's professional correspondence, and personal correspondence all arranged chronologically.

Contains the administrative record of the Director of Libraries. This subseries appears to be a transitional file covering the last years of Stanley West's administration and the first years of his successor, Gustave Harrer, as well as interim director Margaret Goggin. Documentation is similar to that found in subseries 8b and 8d.

Contains the administrative records of Gustave Adolphus Harrer. Harrer was appointed director of the Libraries in 1966. He served as director until 1983. The subseries also includes carryover files from previous directors. Documentation is similar to previous subseries. Noteworthy are the files on the development of the Southeastern Library Network (SOLINET), the introduction of automated cataloging, and Harrer's participation in the Florida Board of Regent's Interinstitutional Committee on Libraries (See both BOR, Interinstitutional Committee and Interinstitutional Committee on Libraries.)
