Biographical/Historical Note
The Latin American Language and Area Center was established in 1962 with funds from Title VI of the National Defense Education Act. The program was initially established as a unit separate from the Center for Latin American Studies. In 1968, the office was abolished and the administration of Title VI funds was transferred to the Center for Latin American Studies.
Scope and Content
The series includes the original proposal to the U. S. Office of Education, annual reports, the minutes of the Program's advisory committee, and other records.
