Scope and Content
This series contains ledger sheets, schedules, correspondence and reports relating to the budget function of the Office of Academic Affairs. The series is divided into three sections: Legislative Requests, Committees, and Subject Files. The legislative budgets section contains requests to the state legislature through the Governor's office. The committee section documents work at the University, State University System and legislative levels. Unfortunately, the Archives does not hold a complete set of the UF Budget Committee records. The Budget Committee members are elected by the University Senate and duties include review and recommendations on the legislative budget, review and changes in the operating budget and evaluation and improvement of the budget process. The Budget Committee records are in journal format. Of particular note is the report on the effects of the 1963-1965 budget on personnel from the SUS subcommittee on Budget Preparation.
This series may duplicate information found in the UF Operating Budgets in the University Archives. For a more complete run of legislative budgets, the user is referred to the Board of Regents Budget Director's Office, Tallahassee. Prior to each session, the Office will issue a report on the requests of all institutions in the State University System.
