Scope and Content
Series 21 contains correspondence from the Agricultural Experiment Station and the Cooperative Extension Service to other areas of the University of Florida campus and to other agricultural units affiliated with the Station and Service. The files were generated during the tenure of Dean of Agriculture Wilmon Newell. The campus correspondence includes correspondence of Newell with other college deans and communication between Extension and Station staff with departments both within and outside the College of Agriculture. This section also includes correspondence with University President Albert A. Murphree for 1924-1927. Correspondence with Murphree's successor, James J. Tigert, is not present. The state correspondence consists primarily of communication with A. A. Turner, Local District Agent and supervisor of the state's Afro-American extension and home demonstration agents at Florida A and M University, Flavia Gleason, State Home Demonstration Agent at the Florida State College for Women, and Edwin F. Stanton, head of the Florida National Egg Laying Contest in Chipley, Florida.
Divided into two sections: campus correspondence and state correspondence. Each section is arranged alphabetically by name or subject. The letters are grouped together within the folders by year, but there is no chronological sequence to the letters.
