Series 162 contains
correspondence of President Thomas H. Taliaferro of the Florida Agricultural
College at Lake City. Also included are miscellaneous documents from
that institution and the correspondence of W. P. Jernigan. Jernigan
served as the college's auditor and bookkeeper and was clerk of the college's
Board of Trustees. Documents for 1894-1898 are few and include several
letters of President W. F. Yocum.
Correspondence
with W. E. French at the Narcoosee cattle ranch station was found in the
papers of Raymond Becker.
The correspondence
is continued in Series P3, Administrative policy records of Andrew Sledd.
Sledd served as the last president of the Florida Agricultural College
(renamed the University of Florida in 1903) and the first president of
the University of Florida in Gainesville.
