Biographical/Historical Note
The Florida Agricultural College at Lake City was renamed the University of Florida in 1903 and abolished in 1905.
Scope and Content
Series 157 is a bound volume containing the minutes of the Board of Trustees of the Florida Agricultural College at Lake City. Earlier board minutes are not available, but some board transactions were published in School reports of Florida. The minutes contain annual expenditures and a record of faculty and administrative appointments. Of special interest are the lengthy annual reports of President Oscar Clute for 1895-1898 and discussion of an altercation between the college president and the director of the Agricultural Experiment Station in 1893. There is also considerable documentation on agricultural work done at Lake City and at the substations in DeFuniak Springs and Ft. Meyers.
