Biographical/Historical Note
Thomas Winston Cole, Sr. was appointed Dean of Academic Affairs in 1973. Cole also served as University Ombudsman during much of his tenure. He retired in 1990.
Scope and Content
Included in the series are accreditation records and self-study materials. Much of the series consists of academic complaints and grievances of undergraduate and graduate students. Use of this portion of the series is restricted. Cole was also involved in the University's affirmative action program. In this regard, the series contains Cole's correspondence with several African-American faculty as well as with black faculty organizations.

Collection is open for research. However, due to privacy concerns, use of the academic complaints and student grievances is restricted. Request permission from an archivist to use these records.
