From 1935 to 1939 he was also director of the Florida Players. In 1956, he was appointed Dean of Men and was promoted to Dean of Student Affairs in 1960. He assumed the rank of Vice President for Student Affairs in 1967. He stepped down in 1972 and served for one year as a special advisor in the Office of Academic Affairs surveying the University's career and academic counseling programs.
