Johnston Photograph Collection
Photographic contact sheets and negatives, 1960-1968.
7.1 linear ft. (14 vols and 6 boxes).
Photographers. Samuel and Carolyn Johnston were photographers
for the Seminole yearbooks when they were students at the University of
Florida. Their work covers the period from the early sixties up to
1968. After their graduation they set up their own photography studio
in Gainesville.
The collection contains both the contact sheets
and the negatives which the Johnstons or other student photographers on
their staff produced. The collection has been retained in its numerical
order which parallels the chronological order. All of the images
provide a valuable visual documentation of the University of Florida as
well as the city of Gainesville during the sixties.
