Biographical/Historical Note
Not much is known about Anna Hrvol other than the fact that she was a student in Summer School at the University of Florida in the summer of 1930. Her family apparently had a farm in Lockport, New York.
Scope and Content
The photo album was created by Anna Hrvol when she attended Summer School at the University of Florida in 1930. The album has a dark blue felt cover and the word Florida and the letters UF in a circle are affixed to the front.
The first part of the album has photographs of Anna and her summer school friends. Often they are posed near UF campus buildings or in other areas on campus. Descriptions are written in white ink on most of the beginning pages in the album. Also included are newspaper clippings, commencement and theater programs, and a post card.
After summer school Anna attended a UF Homecoming celebration (noted in a newspaper article) and Jake's (probably Jacob Mumma) graduation from the University of Florida on June 1, 1931 (a photo is included in the album).
Later pictures are of trips which Anna took as well as pictures of friends and relatives. Some of the places identified in the photos include: Anna, Ohio (Anna Hrvol is posed beside the city sign); Chattanooga, Tennessee; Niagara Falls; Long Beach, Canada; a boat trip from New York City to Jacksonville, Florida on the S.S. Cherokee; and the Hrvol farm in Lockport, New York.
