CONSERVATION: CONSERVATION, IN-HOUSE.

In-house conservation is performed by the Conservator, or by another Conservation staff member under the Conservator's supervision. Most items selected for conservation treatment come from the Department of Special Collections or limited circulation areas and require special handling, tracking and routing. Work may include, among other treatments:

• Deacidification (aqueous or nonaqueous)
• Encapsulation
• Leather treatment
• Paper mending
• Enclosures (rare book boxes, custom enclosures)
• Enclosures for non-book materials
• Restoration
• Paper and materials testing
• Surface cleaning
