LIBRARY BINDING COMMITTEE:
MINUTES OF 10/15/97 MEETING
- The Committee met at 9:00 a.m. in the Second Floor Conference Room of Library West.
- Model OPS job description and performance measures drafts were approved
for review by library administrators. Branches voted to adapt a four-part uniform outline of OPS work functions which includes:"Collection and Collation of Unbound Periodicals", "Physical Preparation of Materials for Commercial Binding",On-Line Preparation of Materials for Commercial Binding", and "Packing and Unpacking, Quality Control and End-Processing of Bound Volumes". Details under each of these headings will be determined by each OPS supervisor.
- Members requested monthly rather than bi-monthly Committee meetings. Laurel will ask
administrators about this.
- Some branches hire only CWS,"College Work Study", students. The Committee will explore
CWS options at future meetings.
- Laurel described new laser label equipment now in place in the Preservation Department.
Laser-printer-generated labels will soon appear on materials at various locations. Please contact Laurel
