Print Media Management Committee
Charge: The PMMC will serve as the central location within the UF Libraries system where issues relating to the check-in, claiming, binding and preservation processing of print periodicals and annuals will be discussed. As needed, issues relating to monographs and microforms will also be discussed. The Committee will actively promote library wide communication regarding these issues. The Committee will also discuss the care and long-term preservation of materials that include media such as CD’s, DVD’s, maps, plates, etc.
ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION:
- Revise or set policies and procedures relating to print and media materials as needed. Forward draft policies and procedures to appropriate Department Chair(s) or Division Director(s) for approval.
- Ensure that revised/new policies and procedures that are approved are communicated and documented appropriately, via mechanisms such as Aleph Pro and Binding Manual web sites
- Implications of and implementation of any print cancellation projects
- Provide forum for education and training for all aspects of managing print and media materials, including physical processing, work in Aleph, etc.
- Function as a central training group for transition from Aleph 15.5 to Aleph 18.
