Bobby
showed the group the new A-Team links from the Binding unit web page
at http://www.uflib.ufl.edu/preserve/binding/index.html
It
has the A-Team committee membership, charge, and minutes in addition
to a link to the Periodicals Improvement Group site located in the
Serials Acquisition web page. Any
suggestions are welcome.

Discussion ensued regarding Aleph implementation.
Cathy and Doug reiterated that Aleph training and migration
issues would be the primary focus for the A-Team over the next six
months. Scheduling of
training and a timeline will become clearer by the next meeting in
December. It was
suggested that all staff download and begin to just look at the new
Aleph client. At the next
meeting we will have a laptop and projector to do some exercises or
experimentation with the Aleph test client.
The following URL is a help site created by Resource Services
to download and begin learning about Aleph:

3.
Discussion also ensued regarding the downsizing of the Library
West addition. As a
result of the diminished funding and subsequent scale-back in building
plans many initial ideas are being reevaluated.
Cathy is part of a committee that meets weekly (?) to discuss
steps toward implementing the changes that are decided.
Most issues are still up in the air, but will probably become
clearer over the last months of this year.
4.
Doug handed out copies of two parts of the Serials Acquisitions
online manual. These were
both drafts of documentation pages that Marie Kennedy was working on
when she left. He asked
for feedback or at least verification that the pages were accurate for
the workflow that the branch staffs were using.
The URL's for the pages are as follows:
http://www.uflib.ufl.edu/serials/withdraw.htm
http://www.uflib.ufl.edu/serials/suppls2.htm
If
there are any questions or suggestions for changes to the
documentation please contact Doug.

Bobby gave the group a summary of his trip to the bindery
August 15 -16. He
included a description of the processing that the bindery uses in
their work. They are able
to do the binding work with surprisingly few errors relative to the
volume of output they produce. He
also indicated that there was good communication regarding any room or
suggestions for improvement by both library and bindery.
6.
Doug mentioned that he had another conference call with
Swets-Blackwell. One
result was that they would now be sending credits and non-standard
invoices on a bi-monthly basis. This
hopefully means that branch staff should see improvement in the
timeliness of resolution to some subscription payment issues.
The next A-Team meeting is tentatively scheduled for December 12 at
2:00pm in the Library East conference room.
Cathy, Doug, or Bobby will send out an email notice if a change
must be made otherwise.
