Job Description

The UF Libraries IT dept is looking for 1 OPS assistant to do the following duties:

  • Report to the Project Manager,
  • Assist in the migration of web sites from an existing static system to the DotNetNuke web content management system,
  • Copy web pages one-by-one from the existing system to the new system, verifying that the content, style, and functionality of each meets specifications, troubleshooting when necessary (for example, repairing broken links or resizing images),
  • Browse and analyze existing web sites to estimate the amount of effort required to migrate each,
  • Use common sense to determine whether particular elements of content are no longer relevant,
  • Communicate with other library staff to clarify issues, and
  • Update documents to keep the Project Manager informed of progress on web sites.


Minimum Requirements

Applicant should be able to

  • Write and edit HTML and CSS
  • Understand web design and how to reproduce web page look-and-feel
  • Navigate file systems and upload documents
  • Perform basic image editing
  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing
  • Follow instructions, work on one’s own, and report on progress
  • Set and follow a written schedule
  • Work in a quiet office environment

Preferred Qualification

Applicant should be able to

  • Write and edit JavaScript
  • Understand the differences between static and database-driven web sites
  • Experience with DotNetNuke or other web content management system
  • Experience with creating and maintaining web sites
  • Experience with UF Libraries, its collections, and its staff
