LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: Summer 2008 TO: Indefinite
NUMBER OF STUDENTS NEEDED: One RATE OF PAY: $7.43
NUMBER OF HOURS REQUIRED WEEKLY: 8-15 hours per week. 2-3 days per week. Evening and weekend hours: Monday-Thursday (5-9pm),
Saturday (1-5pm), and Sunday (2-9pm).
WHAT DUTIES WILL APPLICANT BE EXPECTED TO PERFORM?
Employee will work with another student assistant on the Documents reference desk during evening and weekend hours. Reference assistants help patrons
search the library catalog and databases for government information; retrieve government documents from the shelves; and check items in and out.
WHAT SKILLS MUST APPLICANT HAVE?
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Prompt and reliable. Public service oriented (responsive, positive, and helpful). Ability to work independently;
learn government publications; understand library classification schemes; and perform online database searching.
MUST BE FEDERAL WORK STUDY (FWS is federally funded and need-based. Your eligibility is determined from information you provide on your FAFSA.
To be eligible, you must show need on your federal need analysis report. The number of hours you may work will depend upon your financial need.)
WHAT SKILLS ARE DESIRABLE?
Experience with Windows OS. Good database and Web searching skills. Familiarity with UF library catalog and article databases is extremely helpful. Training
will be provided.
