Job Description: You will be working at a computer in an office environment with other student assistants and full time staff searching both the library catalog and a national database. The idea of your work is to match the new books the library receives with the correct descriptive record that you find in the national database. You then import the record into our catalog using special software.
Minimum Requirements: Good communication skills, good with details, capable of working independently, punctual, comfortable working with languages you may not know. You must be able to work between 9 am and 6 pm on weekdays (M-F) in intervals of at least two hours. We can usually accommodate class schedules. Must be able to at least work through spring 2009.
Preferred Qualifications: Federal Work Study (FWS is federally funded and need-based. Your eligibility is determined from information you provide on your FAFSA. To be eligible, you must show need on your federal need analysis report. The number of hours you may work will depend upon your financial need). We might, in some cases, be able to switch you over to OPS funding if your FWS runs out in the spring. Strongly prefer someone who can read fluently any of the major Romance Languages (Spanish, French, Portuguese & Italian), German, Russian, Amharic, Swahili or Arabic.
