Scheduling and Attendance

Schedules are determined at the beginning of each semester. An appointment should be made with the Stack Management Supervisor within a week after drop/add ends. At this point you can determine a work schedule based around your class schedule. You cannot schedule yourself to work during class time. If the class does not meet, or is released early, you MUST HAVE A NOTE. The Stack Management Supervisor will NOT pay you for time worked during class time if a note is not given.

Permission to Work Form

The scheduling charts are arranged by class period, as shown in the example below. Write in the chart what hours you have class and what hours you will work for the semester. Stack Management Employees my work from 8am-7pm Monday - Friday, 10am-6pm Saturday, and 10am-7pm Sunday (any hours outside of these times must be approved by the Stack Management Supervisor on a case by case basis). If you want to work a block of time that doesn't fall into a class period then simply write in the times you wish to work in the class period that it falls closest to. The Stack Management Supervisor will notify you of the number of hours that you can work per week during the semester according to the budget at that time. Schedules can be changed throughout the semester if you find that the schedule you originally made is not working. Simply inform the Stack Management Supervisor of the new hours you wish to work and have them approved.

Summer Schedule Form

As with all jobs, attendance is required. Students are expected to call in or email the Stack Management Supervisor if they intend to be late or absent. A failure to call in or email may result in a verbal warning (first offense) and a dismissal (second offense). If you know that you need a specific day or time off you can also notify the Stack Management Supervisor in advance to request the time off.

Students in this department are not expected to work during university breaks; this time is optional. You should inform the Stack Management Supervisor prior to this time of whether you intend to work or not. Separate schedules can be made up for this time as well. Separate schedules are also made for finals week and the week prior to finals week. Since this is a busy time for all students you are only expected to work 5 hours, or half of your normal hours (whichever is less) each of these 2 weeks. A scheduling book will be placed by the time clock with instructions. Students should feel free to work more than 5 hours each week during this time but must only sign up for 5 hours in the book and give the Stack Management Supervisor a schedule of any additional hours you wish to work.

 Finals Week Guidelines

You MUST work a MINIMUM of half of your normal weekly hours each week of the finals weeks.

  • Week 1 of finals weeks runs April 15th – 21st
  • Week 2 of finals weeks runs April 22nd – 28th
  • You need to sign up for your hours by Friday, April 14th
  • The sheets to sign up are located in the sign in binder.
    • You need to tell me 1)what days you will be working and 2)the number of hours each day you will be working. I do not need specific times that you will be here.
  • Up to 4 people can sign up each day, if this poses a problem for you, please go see the Stack Management Supervisor.
  • You may work on a day that 4 people have already signed up IF you also work at least one other day that week.
  • If you have any questions, ask the Stack Management Supervisor.

You may work up to your maximum hours per week.

 Break Week Guidelines
  • You are not required to work during a break week.
  • If you would like to work over a break, let the Stack Management Supervisor know.
  • There may be additional hours available over break weeks because most students leave during this time.
  • The library will be open limited hours during this time, so please check the schedule before coming to work.
