Overview

Students hired as Stack Management student assistants are assigned total responsibility for an area of the collection in Marston Science Library. Student assistants re-shelve materials on the 2nd -5th floors, perform shelf reading to make sure that books are in their proper places on the shelves, and keep the stacks neat and tidy.

THIS JOB IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO THE LIBRARY AND LIBRARY PATRONS.

If materials are out of order, then the library becomes difficult to use. If materials are not returned to the shelves promptly--usually in a 24-hour period--then users become dissatisfied. Stack Management student assistants are necessary in order to keep Marston Science Library functioning at a user-friendly level.
