Subject Guide: Invasive Species
Introduction
Information is provided here on invasive species, both animals and plants. Other terms to use when searching for information on this subject include biological invasions, plant invasions, invasive plants, alien plants, plant introduction, exotic plants, and nonindigenous. Animals or pests or species may be substituted for plants in most of these search term examples.

Internet Resources
- United States
- The Nation's Invasive Species Information System contains invasive species data and resources by and for researchers, scientists, land and resource managers, public and private sector agencies, and concerned citizens. Developed in accordance with Executive Order 13112 on Invasive Species, the site includes the final version of the National Management Plan for invasive species, and Laws and Regulations (state and federal) online. Developed by the USDA's National Agricultural Library in partnership with the National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII).

- The Exotic Forest Pest Information System of North America identifies exotic insects, mites and pathogens that may cause significant damage to North American forests. The database contains background information for each identified pest. The site is provided by the North American Forestry Commission and serves as a resource for regulatory and forest protection agencies in North America. .
- The Hawaiian Ecosystems at Risk project is provided by the University of Hawaii and the USGS Biological Resources Division. Hawaii is being invaded by insects, disease organisms, snakes, weeds, and other pests, causing millions of dollars in crop losses, the extinction of native species, the destruction of native forests, and the spread of disease.

The site includes a list of prohibited aquatic plants in Florida, and a report on funds spent annually to control invasive species in Florida
- The Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council (FLEPPC) is a non-regulatory group whose goals include building public awareness about the serious threat invasive plants pose to native ecosystems, and securing funding and support for control and management of exotic plants. Site includes invasive plant lists for Florida, treatment guides, and links to other state and regional exotic pest plant councils.
