"You wanted the best Computer Support Specialist,
you got the best Computer Support Specialist!!
Ladies & Gentlemen, it's the Debra Fetzer Page!
Whooa!"

Yes, my actual job title is "Computer Support Specialist". The important thing to remember is that I am special. Er, I mean... a Specialist. One of the more special aspects of my job is to manage the Smathers Tape Library. In essence, I function as tape librarian - supporting patron access to the computer media in the Libraries.

Another special task I handle is maintaining SYSHELP. This system provides for the quick tracking of computer problems as they occur throughout the Libraries. It follows to the resolution of service activities. In essence, I function as a dispatcher - logging in and routing service requests to the appropriate Systems personnel, then tracking them to completion.

Other special duties of my Specialist position include supervising our student assistants, maintaining office supplies, telephone system support, department Web site maintenance, as well as minor server monitoring & maintenance... and learning more about the computer world than my 1984 BA in Anthropology ever thought possible. In essence, I am conducting my fieldwork on the encroachment of high technology into the core of cubicle life.

In addition to the special world of Computer Support Specialist, I do have a life outside the Library. The most special aspect of my civilian life would have to be my daughter, Angelina. Here is an old picture of her with our coveted KISS Action Figures. Well, she's not that little kid anymore, but what about that use of Paint!

I've been an ardent fan of the Gainesville local music scene since the early 1980's - and have even managed to contribute some culture over the years, in the form of five (now defunct) bands : the legendary Mutley Chix, S***kicker, Ovarydose, ALLSTAR 69 and Beaver.

For information about current local Gainesville bands, checkout:

"Thank-you Gainesville! Good-night! Whoooa!"
