Cambridge Science Abstracts

Searching Concepts:

Advanced keyword searching

Selecting a subject collection

Using limiters (date, etc.)

Viewing records

Reading records (citation info., abstract, etc.)

Using descriptors

Using the Find It link to get full-text

Marking & exporting citations (print, E-mail, save, etc.).

Any other subject specific databases relevant to their assignment/topic (including EBSCO).

Library Catalog

Focus on showing students how to use the Find It link to locate the paper version of a journal in the library catalog. Clarify that they can only find journal titles/volumes in the catalog and not the article itself. They must use the citation from the database to find it within that print resource.

Feel free to introduce students to other, subject specific databases if it will help them in their particular research topic.
