The University of Florida Documents Department, located on the ground floor of the Marston Science Library, receives government publications from nearly all levels of government and from virtually all areas around the world. The Documents Staff provide personalized reference service in an effort to make this important resource of government information accessible to the university community and the public at large. There are also a great number of CD-ROM's available for use within the department's reference area. Most of these documents (including federal depository publications since 1976) and CD-ROM's can be located by using LUIS, the libraries' online catalog.
Regional Depository for U.S. Federal Government Information
The department serves as the Regional Depository of U.S. federal documents for Florida and the Caribbean. As such, the Department receives and retains all publications distributed by the Government Printing Office through its Depository Library Program. The Department maintains a Directory of depository libraries in its region. The United States Government Printing Office maintains a searchable on-line database of the all Federal Depository Libraries. The University of Idaho maintains a list of Depository Library Homepages.
International/Foreign Government Information The Department also receives publications from foreign governments and international governmental organizations (such as United Nations, OECD, and UNESCO). The Department is a depository for official publications of the European Union.
State and Local Government Information The Department is a depository for State of Florida publications as well. In addition, the Department receives a great number of city, county, and regional planning documents from local governments throughout Florida.
