Institutional Repository at the University of Florida (IR@UF)
The Institutional Repository at the University of Florida (IR@UF) is the digital archive for the the intellectual output of the University of Florida. The University of Florida Libraries founded and support the IR@UF in order to offer a central location for the collection, preservation, and dissemination of scholarly, research, and creative production alongside historical materials from the University of Florida. The historical materials provide context for research and researchers, providing insight into the history, nature, and culture of the University.
IR@UF Phase III and Ongoing: Authorities and Ontologies
- Development of EAC-CPF support for institutional entities (2010).
- Future enhancements may include ETDs directly from the UF Graduate School (which currently run through another process, explained here, and with the task force information here) to have them accessible in the catalog and online more quickly whenever applicable. The current process is explained here. By accepting ETDs directly into the IR@UF, not only will ETDs be accessible more quickly, but it will allow for the automatic creation of manually maintained indices like the list of ETDs by department and dissertations related to a specific subject area.
IR@UF Phase II and Ongoing: Self-Submissions
- IR@UF Self-submittal tool for UF faculty and staff was released September 2009. The tool is linked from the IR's main page and this is the direct link.
IR@UF Phase I and Ongoing: Born Digital Serials from UF
- The IR@UF has developed based on the work of two committees (one and two) which developed the current phased development plan.
- List of born digital serials harvested for the IR
The IR@UF began in 2006 with a phased approach designed to facilitate the development of the collection. During the first phase and pending the creation of online submission tools, library staff collect digital resources, identified by collection managers and the University archivist, from University web pages and various units. During the second phase, online submission of publications, journal articles, grey literature, images and data will be encouraged. Eventually, the Repository will contain texts, images, sounds, and numeric data both published and previously unpublished, representing facets of campus life including research and University organization and functions.
