LOCATING E-JOURNALS
A
directory to journals online is now available.
The E-Journal Locator can help determine if a certain journal
title is accessible online, what years of the journal can be accessed
electronically, and how to access it. You
can link to the E-Journal Locator from the UF Libraries Home Page:
http://www.uflib.ufl.edu/
The
Search box on the E-Journal Locator Web page will allow you to search
for a specific journal title or you can browse the titles in an A-Z List.
For
example, if you are looking for an online version of the periodical American
Heritage, the E-Journal Locator will give you the following
information:
American
Heritage
is available as follows: [from 05/01/1990 to present in Academic Search Premier]
[from 07/01/1994 to present in History Resource Center U.S.]
[from 09/01/1992 to present in Biography Resource Center,
Expanded Academic ASAP,
InfoTrac OneFile
and IAC Expanded Academic Index]
This
entry tells you that certain years of the online periodical are available in 6
online databases currently subscribed to by the UF Libraries, and provides
links to the databases. Once you
select a database, you can either browse the journal articles (generally
presented in reverse chronological order) or start a new search for a specific
article or keyword/subject.
Remember
that the online environment tends to change frequently, especially URL
addresses and links; if the link
to the database you need does not work, go back to the UF Libraries Home
Page and click on Database Locator to find a more current link to
the one you want. For example, to
find “Biography Resource Center” from the Database Locator:
Search by Database Name
Type
First Letters of a Database Name
(2-4 letters is usually enough)
