General Web Sites Aiming towards comprehensiveness, these "supersites" try to gather the most important related sites on a particular field or area. They include e-texts, library or national catalogs, newspapers online, bibliographies, and so on. They are the electronic equivalent of a bibliography of bibliographies. For French studies the student and researcher should be familiar with the following. Local Electronic Resources and Databases The following represent some of the most important electronic resources related to French language and literature, whether in a direct or indirect way. Some are only available to UF affiliated users. They have not been separated by format and include full-text databases, indexes abstracts or dictionaries. It is intended to group them separately in a later revision of this home page. Reference Print Sources for Language and Literature Revised periodically this list aims at providing the major tools for both beginning and advanced research, held by the Humanities and Social Sciences Reference Department, University of Florida. Suggestions are welcome. Reference Print Sources for Linguistic Revised periodically the following list of reference sources in general, theoretical and applied linguistics should provide basic background information for the study of French linguistics. Suggestions are welcome. French Writers Home Pages Prepared and maintained by individuals (or the writers themselves), professional associations, institutions or even cities (in the case of Mallarmé and Rimbaud), these sites do not have the same standards or features. Some contain full texts, some do not. Some also have as well as a search engine and discussion lists. They all present interesting or impressive features and are maintained and updated regularly. Literary Theory and Criticism This section has been designed especially for the French and Spanish seminars on introduction to graduate studies and contain several titles in French and Spanish. The list will be revised periodically and suggestions are always welcome.
