French HistoryGeneral Web Sites Aiming towards comprehensiveness, these "supersites" try to gather the most important related sites on a particular field or area. They include e-texts, library or national catalogs, newspapers online, bibliographies, and so on. They are the electronic equivalent of a bibliography of bibliographies. For French studies the student and researcher should be familiar with the following. 1. WESSWeb: http://www.lib.virginia.edu/wess/This is the official site of the Western European Subject Specialists section of the Association of College and Research Libraries. Separate pages are maintained for French studies, in both the humanities and social sciences. Useful for links to national library catalogs, primary sources, newspapers. The links are annotated and keyword searching is possible.
