AiDA (Accessible Information on Development Activities)
Aida is "a common entry point to information on activities of the major international development donors and some civil society organizations and private foundations. A continuing effort is under way to expand the coverage and ensure the timeliness and reliability of information in AiDA. When you need an integrated report with descriptive information about the activities of several agencies, use the AiDA ready-made Topic and Country views or search the site with your own criteria. For financial and analytic information about activities, please use the Creditor Reporting System of the
OECD-DAC."
Water issues
Len Abrams' African Water page is
"dedicated to the water sector in Africa. Issues addressed include water policy,
water resource management, water supply and environmental sanitation, water conservation
and demand management, and a variety of other issues."
Martin Benjamin's Development Consumers... (Dissertation,
Yale University, 2000) is concerned with a water project
in Tanzania. The abstract
and bibliography are available.
International Development Agencies
The British Library of Development Studies at the Institute of Development Studies in Sussex,
UK, maintains a resource page providing vital information on all major development
organizations. Its Electronic Development and Environment Information System (ELDIS)
meets its claim to being a "gateway to information sources on development or the
environment." It also maintains the Development Line information network (DevLine).
However, the abundance of information offered prevents it from being a "quick
jump" list of organizations with web sites only, as is provided below.
