The "cartouche" above is from the 1680 map of Africa by Frederik de Wit, Totius Africae Accuratissima Tabula. The elephants are from Olfert Dapper's 1690 AEthioipia Svperior vel interior vulgo Abissinorvm live Presbiteriioannis Imperivm (Original map by Jan Blaeu in Grooten Atlas published 1660), and the sea monster at right is from Ortelius' (?) Africae propriae tabvla.
